Trader Scanner Skill for Claude

Find charts that match defined setups, then check how much of the market was actually scanned.

Install Day Trader Skill

Day Trader Skill is the author's GitHub project, not a skill preinstalled in Claude. This command opens its third-party plugin installation in Claude Code.

/plugin install day-trader-skill --marketplace https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill.git

Confirm the GitHub source and installation scope in Claude Code. Installing the pack does not run Trader Scanner.

Use with Claude

Copy and send after installation

Use Trader Scanner to check my watchlist for opening-range breakouts after the range is complete. If I have not supplied a watchlist, ask which tickers to use. Report the scan time, charts checked, skipped charts, and why each result matched. Label a partial scan clearly. Do not choose a stock for me.

Opening-range results require completed bars after the opening range. If the data or market session cannot support a check, Claude should explain why.

Example Claude response

Illustrative · based on the source project's dated example

Oct 19, 2026 · 10:15 a.m. New York time

Opening-range scan · historical example
233 of 234 charts fetched; 231 usable.
95 candidates checked; 42 charts matched.
TSLA: 10:10 bar closed at $364.18, 0.55% above the $362.18 range high.
This is a chart match, not a decision to buy.

95 candidates checked applies only to this historical sample. A PARTIAL scan must also show confirmed, skipped and failed counts.

What it checks

FieldExplanation

Scope

A saved watchlist, selected tickers or the source project's stock universe.

Daily setups

Closing-price breakouts, flags, moving-average reclaim and oversold patterns.

Opening range

A completed five-minute bar above the first 15 minutes' range high.

Coverage

How many charts were fetched, usable, confirmed, failed or skipped.

Daily and opening-range scans use different rules. The opening range is 9:30–9:45 a.m. New York time; subsequent completed bars provide confirmation.

Limits & sources

What the result can confirm

Which available charts met a stated rule at the reported time, and how complete the scan was.

What it cannot confirm

That a matched ticker is suitable to buy, liquid enough now or likely to profit.

Yahoo chart data is unofficial and can lag. A PARTIAL result is not a full-market count. Five-minute bars are not tick data, and a historical match does not establish a current entry.
